Mutation details: The 300-bp conserved region of the Mef2c-F1 enhancer fragment was used to direct expression of Hspa1b-lacZ. This 300-bp region (3-3.3 kb) contains conserved MEF2- and SOX-binding sites, is both sufficient and crucial for Mef2c-F1 neural crest enhancer activity in vivo, and directs beta-gal expression in the same pattern as the full length Mef2c-F1 fragment at E11.5.
