Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Serpinb5tm1.1Pib
Name: serine (or cysteine) peptidase inhibitor, clade B, member 5; targeted mutation 1.1, Phillip I Bird
MGI ID: MGI:5484764
Gene: Serpinb5  Location: Chr1:106861175-106883348 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr1, 50.34 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:206439
Parent Cell Line:  Bruce 4 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  B6.Cg-Thy1a
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsA loxP site was into intron 3. An FRT-flanked neo with a 3' loxP was into intron 4. Cre-mediated recombination removed the neo cassette and exon 4. RNA analysis of mammary tissue form homozygous mice detects only a mutant truncated RNA product. Immunoblot and immunohistochemical analyses confirmed the absence of protein in epidermis from homozygous mice. Depending on the antibody used a 42kDa species is detected in the thymus and prostate; however, this is thought to be the result of cross-reaction with of clade B serpins. (J:206439)
