Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsThis transgenic mouse line expresses beta-galactosidase from the E. coli lacZ coding sequence under control of 2.2 kb of 5' flanking sequence, encompassing nucleotides -2120 to +129, of the human platelet derived growth factor receptor, alpha polypeptide (PDGFRA) gene. Expression of the transgene, visualized by X-gal staining, in mesoderm- and neural crest-derived tissues of the developing mouse embryo is similar to that of endogenous Pdgfra mRNA detected by in situ hybridization using mouse specific probes. An exception is in the neural tube and brain, where beta-galactosidase activity, but not Pdgfra transcription, is observed. (J:46139)
