Mutation detailsThe transgene comprises 6.8 kb of human genomic DNA containing the 5' regulatory sequence of the human opsin 1 (cone pigments), long-wave-sensitive (red cone photoreceptor pigment) gene joined to the coding sequence for enhanced green fluorescent protein followed by a Myc epitope tag and an intron and polyadenylation signal from SV40. Transgenic mice exhibit green fluorescence specifically of cone cells of the visual retina. In this transgenic line, EGFP-expressing cells reproducibly constitute a small proportion of cone cells in the ventral retina and the majority of dorsal retinal cone cells. (J:144387, J:175509)
