description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(ACTB-At5g20990)17Betz expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgene expresses the Arabidopsis thaliana ortholog of mammalian gephyrin variously known as CNX, CNX1, CHL6 or SIR4. Both the plant and mammalian proteins participate in the biosynthesis of molybdenum cofactor (MoCo), a metalloprotein coenzyme essential to the activity of several oxidoreductases. The A. thaliana cDNA resides downstream of a human beta-actin promoter and is followed by an SV40 polyadenylation signal. (J:82133)

Notes
Of 13 transgene-positive lines, the two exhibiting the highest transgene expression in brain and liver, designated by the authors Cnx1tg12 and Cnx1tg17, were employed in crosses to produce transgenic mice lacking gephyrin.
