Mutation details: The transgene comprises a 0.4-kb DNA fragment containing the mouse crystallin, alpha 1 promoter driving expression of the mouse sine oculis-related homeobox 3 homolog (Drosophila) (Six3) protein from a full-length, 1.4-kb cDNA, which is followed by the SV40 intron and polyadenylation signal. Transgenic mRNA is detected from embryonic day 12 (E12.0); its expression was confined to lens fiber cells during the developmental period studied (E12.0 - E13.5) and spatially overlapped that of endogenous Pax6.
