Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Hba-a1tm1Led
Name: hemoglobin alpha, adult chain 1; targeted mutation 1, Philip Leder
MGI ID: MGI:2677498
Synonyms: alpha1-
Gene: Hba-a1  Location: Chr11:32233672-32234486 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr11, 18.86 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:41934
Parent Cell Line:  TC1/TC-1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S6/SvEvTac
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsA neomycin selection cassette replaced a small 295 bp fragment in the second exon of the gene. Northern blot analysis on RNA derived from homozygous embryos demonstrated that a reduced amount of alpha-globin transcript was present in comparison to wild type. The authors propose that the remaining mRNA arose from the adjacent Hba-a2 gene. (J:41934)
