Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Hsf2tm1Ijb
Name: heat shock factor 2; targeted mutation 1, Ivor J Benjamin
MGI ID: MGI:2429646
Synonyms: Hsf2-
Gene: Hsf2  Location: Chr10:57486385-57513135 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr10, 29.19 cM, cytoband B3-B4
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:79910
Parent Cell Line:  KG-1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S6/SvEvTac
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsA 200 bp exon containing the translational start codon and a 5' portion of the DNA binding domain was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette. Transcript was undetected by Northern blot analysis of brain, heart, kidney, liver, and lung tissue. Western blot analysis of testis extract indicated a lack of protein in homozygous mutant mice. To confirm that this absence was due to a disrupted allele and not the labile nature of the protein, MEFs treated with proteasome inhibitors were analyzed and similar results were obtained. (J:79910)
