Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Slc18a2tm1Mca
Name: solute carrier family 18 (vesicular monoamine), member 2; targeted mutation 1, Marc G Caron
MGI ID: MGI:2386330
Synonyms: VMAT2-
Gene: Slc18a2  Location: Chr19:59260878-59296012 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr19, 54.64 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:45184
Parent Cell Line:  RW-4 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129X1/SvJ
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsThe sequences encoding transmembrane domains 3 and 4 were deleted and replaced with a PGK-neo cassette via homologous recombination. Absence of gene expression in homozygous mutant animals was confirmed by RT-PCR analysis and Western blot of whole brain RNA and synatpic vesicles from newborn animals. Binding assays using proteins prepared from synaptic vesicles showed no binding activity in the homozygous mutants. (J:45184)
