origin
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:77635
Parent Cell Line:  R1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  (129X1/SvJ x 129S1/Sv)F1-Kitl+
Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsExon 3, encoding the first transmembrane domain, and surrounding intronic sequence was replaced with a neomycin selection cassette inserted by homologous recombination. The absence of transcript in homozygous mutant mice was determined by an RNAse protection assay of brain RNA. Western blot analysis, using a specific antibody directed against the amino terminal region, indicated a lack of encoded protein. (J:77635)
