Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Gfaptm1Ito
Name: glial fibrillary acidic protein; targeted mutation 1, Shigeyoshi Itohara
MGI ID: MGI:2183216
Synonyms: Gfap-
Gene: Gfap  Location: Chr11:102778162-102791368 bp, - strand  Genetic Position: Chr11, 66.48 cM, cytoband D
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:22502
Parent Cell Line:  E14 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129P2/OlaHsd
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout, Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsA cassette, containing a promoterless lacZ and neo, was inserted immediately downstream of the endogenous start codon. Western blot analysis of protein extracts obtained from cerebrum, cerebellum, and spinal cord tissue showed an absence of encoded protein in homozygous mutant mice. The expression pattern of beta-galactosidase showed a strong correlation to that of the endogenous gene. (J:22502)
