Mutation details: The portion of the homeodomain encoded by exon 3 was flanked by a loxP site in intron 2 and a cassette, containing a loxP site with an upstream neo gene and a downstream IRES-tau-myc, inserted into the 3' untranslated region. The targeting vector was designed such that the endogenous gene may be expressed prior to cre-mediated recombination. This allele was used to generate Evx1tm1.1Gld.
