Synonyms: Aes-, Grg5-, Grgdelta1
Gene: Aes  Location: Chr10:81559494-81566362 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr10, 39.72 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:29516
Parent Cell Line:  CJ7 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S1/Sv-Oca2+ Tyr+ Kitl+
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion
Mutation detailsA neomycin selection cassette replaced exon 2 and also introduces both termination and polyadenylation signals into the open reading frame. The authors noted that if the aforementioned signals were not recognized, the splicing of exons 1 and 3 would result in frameshift mutation. Western analysis of lysates isolated from the brains and spleens of homozygous mutant mice showed an absence of protein expression. (J:29516)
