Name: transforming growth factor, beta receptor II; targeted mutation 1, Makoto M Taketo
MGI ID: MGI:2158728
Gene: Tgfbr2  Location: Chr9:116087698-116175363 bp, - strand  Genetic Position: Chr9, 68.39 cM
Mutation
origin
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:73414
Parent Cell Line:  D3a2 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S2/SvPas
Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsA neomycin selection cassette was inserted into exon 4 at the sequence corresponding to codon 230. RT-PCR analysis on RNA derived from targeted ES cells demonstrated that no wild-type transcript was produced from this allele. (J:73414)

Notes
Chimeric mice exhibit a wasting phenotype with severe weight loss within 2 weeks. Chimeras show various phenotypes, from small organ size, to cystic kidney and internal hydrcephalus with internal hemorrhage in the brain, or agnathia with anophthalmia and synotia (J:73414).
