64 microsatellite markers covering approximately 85% of the mouse genome at an average spacing of 20 cM was used to type 224 BXSB/J x (C57BL/10Ola x BXSB/J)F1 backcross male animals for loci linked to autoimmune phenotypes (anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) development, anti-dsDNA/ssDNA antibody production, splenomegaly, nephritis, reduced complement activity, and IgG3 class switching). Significant linkage was detected on mouse chromosome 1 at Yaa2 (P = 7.5 x 10-5 at D1Mit5; 32.8 cM) and Yaa3 (P = 7.1 x 10-6 at D1Mit12; 61.3 cM) for nephritis, and at Yaa4 (P = 3.2 x 10-5 at D1Mit403; 100 cM) for anti-dsDNA antibody production. Suggestive linkage was found on mouse chromosome 3 for ANA development and nephritis at D3Mit217 (63.1 cM) and ANA development only at D3Mit137 (35.2 cM), and suggestive linkage was also found on mouse chromosome 10 at D10Mit20 (30 cM) for anti- ssDNA antibody production.
