Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:60445

286 [C57BL/10Ola x C56BL/10Ola x BXSB/J)F1] male backcross animals were typed at 93 polymorphic loci (average spacing=20 cM) to identify QTLs involved in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) susceptibility. The BXSB/J strain develops accelerated autoimmunedisease in male animals with a phenotype similar to human SLE. C57BL/10Ola males are non-autoimmune and [C57BL/10Ola x C56BL/10Ola x BXSB/J)F1] backcross males develop autoimmune disease with delayed onset. Linkage was detected on mouse Chromosome 1 at 32.8 cM (Sle7), 71.4 cM (Sle8), and 99.5 cM (Sle9). Sle7 peaks at D1Mit5 and shows significant linkage to glomerulonephritis (GN) and suggestive linkage to antinuclear antibody (ANA) production and splenomegaly. Sle8 peaks at D1Mit12 and shows significant linkage to GN, ANA, and splenomegaly. Sle9 peaks at D1Mit403 and is linked to ANA, splenomegaly, anti-ssDNA antibody production, and anti-dsDNA antibody production. Suggestive loci were detected on mouse Chromosome 1 at 7.7 cM (Sle10) and mouse Chromosome 3 at 39.7 cM (Sle11). Sle10 is associated with lymphoadenopathy at D1Mit3, and Sle11 is associated with ANA and elevated IgG3 levels at D3Mit40. (See also Maibaum, J:61936)
