Targeted Allele Detail
Symbol: Spp1tm1Rit
Name: secreted phosphoprotein 1; targeted mutation 1, Susan R Rittling
MGI ID: MGI:1932084
Synonyms: Eta-1-, Opn-
Gene: Spp1  Location: Chr5:104435118-104441050 bp, + strand  Genetic Position: Chr5, 50.68 cM
Germline Transmission:  Earliest citation of germline transmission: J:56535
Parent Cell Line:  AB2.1 (ES Cell)
Strain of Origin:  129S7/SvEvBrd-Hprtb-m2
Allele Type:    Targeted (Null/knockout)
Mutation:    Insertion
Mutation detailsInsertion of a neomycin resistance cassette into exon 6 immediately 5' of the RGD sequence disrupted the Spp1 gene. Northern analysis of homozygous mutant kidney detected low levels of a high molecular weight RNA species, but no wild-type or truncated Spp1 transcript. Immunoblot analysis detected low levels of a truncated form of the protein in bone but not in other tissues, fluids, or cells of homozygous mutant mice. (J:56535)
