Reference: J:50310 Downs KM, et al., Vascularization in the murine allantois occurs by vasculogenesis without accompanying erythropoiesis. Development. 1998 Nov;125(22):4507-20
Assay type: Immunohistochemistry
MGI Accession ID: MGI:1298414
Gene symbol: Kdr
Gene name: kinase insert domain protein receptor
Antibody: anti-Flk-1
Results
Specimen 3A: embryonic day 7.5 (more )
Note: Neural plate stage.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS11: allantois mesoderm Present 3A
TS11: allantois Present Regionally restricted 3A flk-1 was not observed in the mesothelium of the allantois. The percentage of positive core cells was highest in the distal third of the allantoic bud, significantly lower in the basal third and intermediate in the middle third.

Specimen 3B: embryonic day 8.0 (more )
Note: Late headfold stage.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS11: allantois mesoderm Present 3B
TS11: allantois Present Regionally restricted 3B flk-1 was not observed in the mesothelium of the allantois. The percentage of positive core cells was highest in the distal third of the allantoic bud, significantly lower in the basal third and intermediate in the middle third.

Specimen 3C: embryonic day 8.0 (more )
Note: 3.5-somite pairs.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS12: allantois mesenchyme Present 3C
TS12: allantois Present Regionally restricted 3C flk-1 was not observed in the mesothelium of the allantois. Expression had become abundant in the basal third of the allantois and was invariably expressed in the nascent allantoic blood vessel found at the allantoic/yolk sac junction at 4-somite pairs.

Specimen 3F: embryonic day 8.0 (more )
Note: 6-somite pairs.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS12: allantois mesenchyme Present 3F
TS12: allantois Present Regionally restricted 3F flk-1 was not observed in the mesothelium of the allantois. Flk-1 protein was abundant in flattened cells that formed obvious vascular channels throughout the allantois.

Specimen 3G: embryonic day 8.5 (more )
Note: 10-somite pairs.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS13: extraembryonic component Present Regionally restricted 3G The core mesoderm of the allantois contained Flk-1-positive cells. flk-1 was not observed in the mesothelium of the allantois. Flk-1 protein was abundant in flattened cells that formed obvious vascular channels throughout the allantois.
