Reference: J:120320 Shih HP, et al., Cranial muscle defects of Pitx2 mutants result from specification defects in the first branchial arch. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2007 Apr 3;104(14):5907-12
Assay type: Immunohistochemistry
MGI Accession ID: MGI:7430771
Gene symbol: Myod1
Gene name: myogenic differentiation 1
Antibody: anti-MyoD
Results
Specimen 2L: embryonic day 10.5; Pitx2tm1Rsd/Pitx2+ (more )
Note: Triple labeled: red - Myod1; green - Six2 (assay MGI:7430776); blue - Pitx2 reporter (assay MGI:7430765).
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: 1st branchial arch mesenchyme Present Regionally restricted 2L Co-expression of Myod1 and Pitx2 (beta-gal) was detected in the first branchial arch muscle anlagen.

Specimen 2P: embryonic day 10.5; Pitx2tm1Rsd/Pitx2tm1Rsd (more )
Note: Triple labeled: red - Myod1; green - Six2 (assay MGI:7430776); blue - Pitx2 reporter (assay MGI:7430765).
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: 1st branchial arch mesenchyme Present Single cells 2P A few Myod1+ cells were observed in the first branchial arch core of mutants at E10.5, but their total number and the fraction of Pitx2(beta-gal)+ cells that was Myod1+ was dramatically reduced.
