Mutation details: The transgene contains the following elements: sequence 9-13 kb upstream of the Pomc gene transcription start site (containing neuron-specific enhancers Rr279 (nPE1) and Rr280 (nPE2)), the Herpes simplex virus TK gene minimal promoter and the human growth hormone gene gene. The transgene is expressed in hypothalamic arcuate neurons but not in pituitary melanotrophs and corticotrophs during embryonic development.
