This assay is a quantitative RT-PCR. Gapdh was used as the standard. Relative expression of the short form (Neu4b) compared with the total Neu4 level was shown. To obtain Neu4b expression, Neu4 cDNA was used as a standard and values were calculated by subtracting Neu4a expression from total Neu4 expression.
