Mutation details: The transgene consisting of the 5.0-kb upstream enhancer/promoter region sequence of the mouse Tbx21 gene was fused to the bacteriophage P1 Cre recombinase gene with the
human -globin gene intron and simian virus 40 polyadenylation signal driving cre expression specifically in the mitral/tufted cells of the olfactory bulb. The DNA construct was purified and initialized then injected into the pronucleus of fertilized eggs that were obtained from crossing C57BL/6J and DBA/2J mice. Seven transgenic mouse lines were established and one (line no. 1) showed ectopic expression of Cre protein specifically in the claustrum and was used for the study.
