Mutation details: The vector contains the entire mouse thymus cell antigen 1 theta gene (including the essential promoter and neuron-specific upstream regulatory sequences, 3' polyA signal sequences and neuronal-specific expression signal containing introns) with the coding region removed (from the ATG in exon 2 to the end in exon 4, including intervening introns 2 and 3). The human cytochrome P450 family 19 subfamily A member 1 gene was inserted in the place of the coding sequence. The transgene expresses the inserted gene in neuronal cells and not in non-neuronal cells) in the nervous system.
