Mutation details: The transgene construct that was micro-injected into fertilized eggs conatins the following elements: the CAG promoter-enhancer, a loxP site flanked neomycin resistance gene cassette (which includes p(A) sequences), and the human interleukin 1 alpha gene. This creates a conditional-ready allele where the human gene is only expressed after the deletion of the neo cassette through cre-mediated recombination.
