Mutation details: The transgene comprises the following elements: The mouse estrogen receptor 1 alpha promoter (4 kb genomic sequence upstream of ATG translation start), beta globin intron 1, the rtTA (reverse tetracycline-controlled transactivator) gene and SV40 poly(A) signal. This is part of the Tet-On system where mice double-transgenic for this transgene and a second transgene controlled by the tetO promoter express the second transgene in cells where the promoter of the first transgene is active when administered doxycycline.
