Authors state expression increase in chondrocytes as they developmentally mature from resting to proliferating and ultimately prehypertrophic chondrocytes. Expression in perichondrium and cells of surrounding loose connective tissue. No expression in hypertrophic chondrocytes, osteoblast or osteoclast cell populations, or in cells of mineralized region of bone.
