Mutation details: This transgene contains (from 5' to 3') the CMV-IE enhancer/chicken beta-actin/rabbit beta-globin hybrid promoter (from the pCAGGS vector), a loxP site, the cytoplasmic red fluorescent protein tdimer2(12) (a non-oligomerizing DsRed variant with a 12 residue linker fusing two copies of the protein (tandem dimer)), a polyadenylation signal, a second loxP site, a full-length mouse Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule (Dscam) sequence including the endogenous stop codon, an internal ribosome entry site (IRES), an enhanced green fluorescent protein sequence and a polyadenylation signal. Red fluorescence protein is expressed in all cells/tissues examined. Cre recombinase exposure deletes the floxed tdimer2(12) sequence and results in expression of full-length Dscam and EGFP fluorescence.
