Assay Details
Assay
Reference: J:9911 Davidson D, et al., A gene with sequence similarity to Drosophila engrailed is expressed during the development of the neural tube and vertebrae in the mouse. Development. 1988 Oct;104(2):305-16
Assay type: RNA in situ
MGI Accession ID: MGI:5469173
Gene symbol: En1
Gene name: engrailed 1
Probe: p-lambda-4L7
Probe preparation: Antisense labelled with S35 RNA
Visualized with: Autoradiography
Assay notes: The authors did not specify which probe was used to obtain this data; it was was assumed that they used the probe that detects the expression of both family members.
Results
Specimen not shown: embryonic day 9.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS15: neural tube Present Regionally restricted Expression is present in the ventral part of the neural tube in the cervical and upper thoracic regions. It is most intense in a restricted, midlateral, region of the germinal zone. Using gene-specific probes, this is believed to be due to En1.
TS15: tail future spinal cord Absent There is no expression in the caudal part of the tail.
TS15: trunk dermomyotome Moderate Based on experiments using gene-specific probes, this expression believed to be due to En1.
TS15: tail paraxial mesenchyme Absent Expression levels are barely above background.
TS15: head mesenchyme Present Regionally restricted Expression is present in the facial mesenchyme anterior to the forebrain, above the developing snout; there is no expression in the lateral parts of face. Based on experiments using gene-specific probes, this expression believed to be due to En1.

Specimen not shown: embryonic day 10.5 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: neural tube Present Regionally restricted Expression is present in the ventral part of the neural tube in the cervical and upper thoracic regions. It is most intense in a restricted, midlateral, region of the germinal zone. Using gene-specific probes, this is believed to be due to En1.
TS17: tail future spinal cord Absent There is no expression in the caudal part of the tail.
TS17: trunk dermomyotome Present Based on experiments using gene-specific probes, this expression believed to be due to En1.
