Mutation details: Homologous recombination inserted the cre recombinase sequence fused to a mutated tamoxifen-inducible estrogen receptor (cre/ERT2) into the translation initiation ATG codon of the neurogenin 3 gene located in a BAC. Three founder lines were obtained which all produced nearly identical patterns of cre expression. A generic line 1 was created as representative.
