Mutation details: Homologous recombination introduced the sequence encoding cre recombinase into the translational initiation ATG codon of the Neurod1 gene located in a BAC. The cre sequence also included a nuclear localization signal (NLS) and the SV40 polyadenylation sequence. The purified construct was injected into pronuclei of fertilized B6xB6D2F1 oocytes. Two founders were obtained with both lines showing nearly identical patterns of cre expression. A generic line 1 was created as representative.
