Gene symbol: Neurod4
Gene name: neurogenic differentiation 4
Probe: Math3 cDNA1
Probe preparation: Antisense labelled with digoxigenin RNA
Results
Specimen 2A: embryonic day 10.5 (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: hindbrain Weak Non-Uniform 2A There is expression in a broad ventral domain throughout the hindbrain; there is higher expression in a narrow stripe adjacent to the floorplate.
TS17: rhombomere 4 Present Non-Uniform 2A Expression is particularly strong in a ventral rhombomere 4 column. It is also present in a medial column extending from rhombomere 4-6 and in a dorsal column extending from rhombomere 4 caudally.
TS17: rhombomere 5 Present Non-Uniform 2A Expression is present in a medial column extending from rhombomere 4-6 and in a dorsal column extending from rhombomere 4 caudally.
TS17: rhombomere 6 Present Non-Uniform 2A Expression is present in a medial column extending from rhombomere 4-6 and in a dorsal column extending from rhombomere 4 caudally.

Specimen 2B: embryonic day 10.5; Hoxb1tm1Brd/Hoxb1tm1Brd (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2B Expression within the dorsal column extends throughout only two rhombomeres.
TS17: rhombomere 4 Present 2B There is no rhombomere 4 specific upregulation of the ventral column of the mutant, leaving expression similar to that seen in rhombomeres 2 and 3. Expression within the dorsal column extends throughout only two rhombomeres.
TS17: rhombomere 2 Present 2B
TS17: rhombomere 3 Present 2B

Specimen 2C: embryonic day 10.5; Hoxb2tm1Fmr/Hoxb2tm1Fmr (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2C Expression in the dorsal column appears normal.
TS17: rhombomere 4 Present Non-Uniform 2C Relative to wild type, the expression in the ventral domain is reduced but it is still stronger than that seen in rhombomeres 3 or 5.
TS17: rhombomere 3 Present 2C
TS17: rhombomere 5 Present 2C

Specimen 2D: embryonic day 10.5; Hoxa1tm1Ipc/Hoxa1tm1Ipc (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS17: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2D Expression is present in the mutant but, unlike in wild-type, there is no rhombomere 4 specific upregulation of the ventral column. Expression within the dorsal column extends throughout only one rhombomere.

Specimen 2E: embryonic day 11.5 (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2E Expression is resolved into longitudinal stripes; it is particularly strong in two stripes in ventral rhombomere 4 and in a medial column extending from rhombomere 4-6. There is also some upregulation in a more dorsal column extending caudally from r4.

Specimen 2F: embryonic day 11.5; Hoxb1tm1Brd/Hoxb1tm1Brd (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2F Expression is present in the mutant but, unlike in wild-type, there is no rhombomere 4 specific upregulation of the ventral column. Expression within the dorsal column extended throughout only two rhombomeres.

Specimen 2G: embryonic day 11.5; Hoxb2tm1Fmr/Hoxb2tm1Fmr (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2G Expression is present in the mutant but, unlike in wild-type, there is no rhombomere 4 specific upregulation of the ventral column. Instead expression is variable in this domain.

Specimen 2H: embryonic day 11.5; Hoxa1tm1Ipc/Hoxa1tm1Ipc (more )
Note: This specimen is flat-mounted.
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS19: hindbrain Present Non-Uniform 2H Expression is present in the mutant but, unlike in wild-type, there is no rhombomere 4 specific upregulation of the ventral column. Expression within the dorsal column extends throughout only one rhombomere.
