Mutation details: In this transgenic line, two constructs were coinjected and cointegrated in the genome. The first construct consists of a mouse IL12a sequence (nucleotides 14-819) under the control of a mouse Gfap promoter. The second construct consists of a mouse IL12b sequence (nucleotides 1-1055) under the control of a mouse Gfap promoter. The mouse Gfap promoter was used to drive transgene expression in astrocytes. A human growth hormone polyadenylation sequence and SV40 splice donor/acceptor site were also included in the constructs.

Transgenic animals carried insertions for both Tg(Gfap-Il12a)1Ilc and Tg(Gfap-Il12b)1Ilc. These animals were used to establish a stable bigenic line referred to as the GF-IL-12 line.
