Reference: J:137506 Yoshikawa F, et al., Opalin, a transmembrane sialylglycoprotein located in the central nervous system myelin paranodal loop membrane. J Biol Chem. 2008 Jul 25;283(30):20830-40
Assay type: Immunohistochemistry
MGI Accession ID: MGI:4837137
Gene symbol: Opalin
Gene name: oligodendrocytic myelin paranodal and inner loop protein
Antibody: anti-Opalin
Detection system: Secondary antibody coupled to colloidal gold
Results
Specimen 7A: postnatal week 2 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS28: optic nerve Present Regionally restricted 7A Expression is localized around the inner loop (or adaxonal) membrane (or inner mesaxon). It is not seen in the compact myelin lamellae, the outer loop (abaxonal) membrane or the axo-glial junctions.

Specimen 7B: postnatal week 2 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS28: optic nerve Present Regionally restricted 7B Immunogold particles are localized on the cytoplasmic side immediately below the paranodal loop membranes. Pairs of immunogold particles are often observed on apposing membranes. No immunogold was detected in the axo-glial junctions of paranodes.

Specimen 7C: postnatal week 2 (more )
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS28: optic nerve Present Regionally restricted 7C Immunogold particles are localized on the cytoplasmic side immediately below the paranodal loop membranes. Pairs of immunogold particles are often observed on apposing membranes. No immunogold was detected in the axo-glial junctions of paranodes.
