Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsThis transgene contains a cDNA encoding enhanced green fluorescent protein, with an SV40 polyadenylation signal, downstream of a promoter fragment from the mouse acrosomal vesicle protein 1 gene encompassing nucleotides -408 through +28 (relative to the transcription start site). 21-day-old, but not 18-day-old male transgenic mice exhibit EGFP fluorescence specifically in seminiferous tubules, initially in postmeiotic, round spermatids. (J:58301)

Notes
Two of three transgenic founder mice expressed EGFP in testis only; the third failed to express it in any tissue. No distinction was made between the two expressing lines.
