Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsA 1.15 kb fragment of HBV subtype adr DNA spanning nucleotides 707-1856 of the viral genome was cloned into CD-1 fertilized eggs. This DNA fragment contained the entire coding region of the HBx gene, transcriptional enshancer sequence, principal RNA start sites and a poly A site. Northern blot analysis confirmed transgene expression in the liver, kidney and testis. This allele was established in founder E1. In J:90881, this allele was further defined to carry only a single copy of the transgene, and that the restriction sites bordering the transgene had been destroyed. Incidence of hepatocellular neoplasia in heterozygote transgenic mice was similar to CD-1 background, while incidence in homozygous transgenic mice carrying 2 copies of the transgene was elevated.
