Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Recombinase)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(GFAP-cre)1Kdmc expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsA human GFAP promoter was used to drive expression of Cre recombinase, with an intron and polyadenylation signals from the mouse protamine-1 gene. The promoter-cre fragment was surrounded by four copies of a genomic insulator. Cre recombinase expression is restricted to GFAP-positive astrocytes in brain; neurons and oligodendrocytes do not express the Cre protein. (J:108621)
