Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsA human papilloma virus 16 (HPV16) genomic fragment (nt79-883) encompassing both the E6 and E7 genes was cloned between the human KRT14 promoter and polyA sequences. Only E6 is expressed due to the presence of a translation termination linker in the N-terminal region of the E7 gene. This line was estimated by Southern blot analysis to carry approximately 15 copies of the transgene. In situ hybridization demonstrates expession of E6 mRNA in the epidermis and also in the dermis, but confined largely to hair follicles in the latter. (J:55965)
