Synonyms: 218/10, TgHS-218/10
Transgene: Tg(SOD1)10Cje  Location: unknown
Alliance: Tg(SOD1)10Cje page
Transgene
origin
Strain of Origin:  (C57BL/6J x SJL/J)F1
Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Humanized sequence, Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(SOD1)10Cje expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe entire human SOD1 sequence was used for the transgene. Eight copies of the transgene inserted into Chromosome 10 (J:18645). Northern blot analysis of brain and liver from transgenic animals showed expression of 0.9 kb and 0.7 kb transcripts similar to that in humans. Transgenic animals exhibited increased enzyme activity in nearly all tissues examined. (J:30458)

Notes
Line 3 was also produced.

Transgenic mice on a C57BL/6 background are viable. Although homozygote males are sterile, homozygote females are fertile.

Transgenic mice express three times the normal level of SOD1 in the blood, brain, and fibroblasts.
