Mutation details: A 4.9 kb genomic fragment containing exons 1 through 4 of the human APOE gene was adjoined to a 1.4 kb human PDGFB promoter fragment. Epsilon 2 (APOE2) was identified at both the mRNA and protein levels by RNase protection and Western blot analysis of transgenic brain tissue. Immunohistochemical analysis further localized the transgenic expression to hippocampal neurons.
