Mutation details: This transgene overexpresses a transcriptionally active fragment of the human SREBP-1a gene under the control of a mouse adipose-specific promoter/enhancer of the Fabp4 gene. This truncated form of the SREBP-1a gene lacks the membrane attachment domain and translocates to the nucleus without proteolytic processing. Northern blot analysis demonstrated that the transgene was abundantly expressed in both white and brown adipose tissue.
