Abstract:
Full text of MNL contribution: J.L. Southard. New Mutation: Jackson circler, jc. This recessive mutation occurred in the C57BL/6J strain in 1963 and was analyzed by Dr. M.M. Dickie. Circling becomes more pronounced with age and is erratic. Homozygotes can swim. The genotype at weaning is most easily determined by the behavior when hung by the tail. Homozygotes are very active, bobbing up and down and flexing the head and trunk ventrally toward the tail. jc is linked to Sl in LG IV (60/209 = 28.8% recomb.). It is not allelic with av.
