Abstract:
Full text of MNL contribution: New mutant: Contrasted, proposed symbol Con. Occurred in a neutron irradiation experiment. The heterozygote is classifiable at or soon after birth by the presence of dark pigmentation on the genital papilla. The adult coat, however, tends to be slightly lighter than normal. Homozygotes also have dark external genitalia but a markedly diluted coat, both eumelanin and phaeomelanin being affected. The underfur is more lightened than the overfur, especially in aa mice. All tested homozygous females have been sterile, with one exception. Vaginal smears indicate that they generally do not come into oestrus. Less than expected numbers of homozygotes tend to occur after intercrosses and backcrosses. Con is not allelic with b, cch or p. (Searle)
