Abstract:

Full text of MNL contribution: B. Research news. 1 . Two new Mi-series alleles. B. Microphthalmia-brownish, Mib. A new dominant appeared spontaneously in an offspring of a (101 x C3H) F1 male x T (multiple recessive) female. Heterozygotes have diluted fur (with a brownish cast) and paler tail and ears. Homozygotes are white and have reduced eye pigment but are probably not microphthalmic. Teeth are normal. Both sexes are fertile. Allelism tests with a steeloid mutant proved negative, and there was no evidence for linkage. The combination Mib /Miwh; A/A is light cream with white spots and ruby eyes. Mib/Miwh +/+ has yielded no wild type in over 50 classified young. The combination Mib/Mior is indistinguishable from Mib/Mib and when crossed to wild type gave 194 young, exclusively of types Mib/+ or Mior/ +. (Larsen)
