Abstract:

Full text of MNL contribution: M.M. Dickie. New mutations: 3. Haze. Two slightly pale colored animals with pink eyes were observed in a litter of DBA/2J in May 1962. Breeding tests with these deviants indicated that this was a recessive color gene. Tests with d. p, b, ln, ru, pa, si, ce, pe, bg, m, le, ep, tp, bf, uw, and gm were all negative. Newborn mutant animals have very light colored eyes. In the adult the hair color is brownish and underfur is white. This new color gene has been named haze and the suggested symbol is hz.
