Abstract:

Full text of MNL contribution: 2. Sepia (sea) is a recessive mutation that arose in strain C57BL/6J at F93 in 1968. It closely resembles beige but the coat, ears, and tail are not quite as light as bg and the eyes of sepia mice are not light enough to be recognized at birth. Linkage crosses with ln, Lp, and vl on Chr 1 show the following: with ln a combined estimate from both repulsion and coupling IC gives 29.00 +/- 2.52%. With Lp a BC gives 14/265 = 5.28 + 1.37%. With vl no double recessives were recovered in a repulsion IC with 605 offspring but tests of F2 pairs, sea -/sea + x - vl/+ vl have produced 1 crossover in the 36 chromosomes tested giving 2.85%. This places sepia on Chr 1 between ln and Lp and probably close to dr. (H.O. Sweet and Lane)
