Abstract:

Full text of MNL contribution: 4. Tortoiseshell (To) and Bent tail (Bn). Test cross matings in balanced coupling and repulsion phases were used. The recombination percent in the females is based on the Bn classes only, in order to eliminate the effect of the incomplete penetrance of Bn. Recombination in the female is 19.6+/- 4.19%, and in the male, 24.2+/- 3.89%. Considering the sources of error involved in the measurement of this linkage (incomplete penetrance, reduced viability and viability interactions) these results are not sufficiently in disagreement with previous estimates of recombination between Bn and Mo, Mobr to rule out the possibility of allelism of To with Mo.
