Abstract:

Full text of MNL contribution: M.M. Dickie. New Alleles: In 1966 in C57BL/6J x A/J F1 a very speckled animal was observed. Tests of the mutant offspring indicated it was the result of a dominant mutation. Newborn homozygotes are black-eyed white with microcytic anemia. Crosses with Wv produced anemic newborns with macrocytic anemia. Linkage with Hm (recombination 28.8 +/- 3.8%) indicates that this, too, is a new W allele causing the usual pigment change, sterility and a microcytic rather than macrocytic anemia. This allele is designated W25J.
