Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inducible, Recombinase)
Inducer:    mifepristone
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Gfap-cre/PGR*)473Gkl expression driven by 1 gene

Mutation detailsThis transgene contains the mouse glial fibrillary acidic protein promoter driving the expression of an RU486-inducible Cre recombinase. The encoded protein is a fusion of Cre recombinase with a mutant human progesterone receptor that fails to bind to its natural ligand at physiologic concentrations but does bind to the synthetic progesterone analog RU486. The unbound fusion protein is restricted to the cytoplasm; it can enter the nucleus only when bound to RU486. (J:115216)
