Notes
B6.Cg-TgN(Eno2tTA)5030Nes mice selectively express tTA at high levels in the striatum and to a lesser extent in the cerebral cortex and hippocampus. When these transgenic mice are mated to a second transgenic strain which carries a gene of interest under the regulation of a tetracycline-responsive promoter element (TRE), expression of the target gene in the bitransgenic offspring may be induced in those tissues where tTA is expressed by the withdrawal of the tetracycline analog, doxycycline (dox).
