Mice homozygous for an amino acid substitution (R1207H) are viable and fertile. Mice lacking the neuronal microexon exhibit social behavior abnormalities, learning and memory deficits, increased inhibitory synaptic conductance, and altered hippocampal synaptic plasticity.
